Our manifesto

A collective of guides.
One shared conviction.

Adventure isn't sold as a product.
It's lived, walked, shared.

Hunawé was born from a simple desire: to create human-scale nature adventures in small groups, guided by those who truly know the land.

Who we are

Not an agency.
A collective of outdoor guides.

Hunawé is not a platform designed far from the field. It's a collective of women and men — our Captains — who live, work and sleep outdoors year-round: guides, naturalists, passionate about mountains, forests, coastlines and wilderness camping.

In France and Europe, they create micro-adventures that are more local, more sustainable and more respectful of territories: hiking, bivouacking, trekking, climbing, sailing, snowshoeing — always in small groups, always as close as possible to nature.

« Nature isn't a backdrop that loads in 4K: it's living, with its own rules, moods and inhabitants. »

What we refuse

Selling nature as a commodity.

  • Mass tourism and extractive practices that damage fragile environments.
  • Copy-paste itineraries, sold without considering the terrain, seasons, and group pace.
  • Wow in a spray can: adventure reduced to a performance or a checklist.
  • Disconnect from the ground, when a distant guide doesn't truly know the places.
  • The race for growth, disconnected from reality and long-term thinking.

What we choose

Adventure on a human scale.

  • Small groups, where meeting people and sharing experiences are part of the adventure.
  • Local guides who know their regions, their seasons and their hidden trails.
  • Gentle mobility and low-carbon departures, as close to home as possible.
  • Less but better: useful equipment, durable and shared when it makes sense.
  • Territories valued rather than consumed, and local economy supported.

A company that moves differently

A cooperative, not a machine.

To build a sustainable structure that stays true to our principles, we, Captains of Hunawé, chose a

cooperative

form: a shared company that belongs to those who bring it to life every day, and in which everyone has a say in major decisions.

It's a company of the Social and Solidarity Economy (a Collective Interest Cooperative Society) that promotes cooperation over exploitation. We move at the steady pace of the mountaineer who knows how to walk far and long:

long-term thinking, cooperation, resilience

— because the way we build the company matters just as much as what we deliver on the ground.

Our charter

Our commitments, on the ground.

  1. Respect for life. Reduce our impact, leave almost no trace, protect fragile ecosystems.
  2. Travel with purpose. Share knowledge, read landscapes, raise awareness of ecological challenges.
  3. Safety first. Prepare, anticipate, adapt: a successful adventure rests on sound judgment and experience.
  4. Less but better. A sober and coherent practice, without excess.
  5. Living territories. Enhance local know-how, support rooted economies.
  6. Human adventure. Kindness, listening, respect for the group's pace: the quality of connection makes the experience.

Our promise

Adventure led by those who live it.
Safety ensured by those who secure it.
Connection, in small groups.

Hunawé is the collective of local guides for France, within the Nomadays network of agencies. The ground experience is led by those who live it; the legal and financial framework — APST guarantee, secure payment, assistance — is ensured by Nomadays.
