Deer tracking and yurt overnight stay

At 11am, meet at Bellegarde-sur-Valserine train station. Captain Rémi picks up the group in a minivan and takes us to the hiking starting point.

After a picnic from our bags, we enter the forest for a short hike dedicated to deer tracking, searching for their tracks and following our Captain's expert advice.

At the end of the day, we return to base camp where warmth and comfort await us: a yurt heated by a wood stove, two Nordic tents and an aperitif made of local products. If nature invites us to, we will have the possibility to hear the deer rutting close to us during the evening and night. The day ends with a fondue at sunset, followed by an evening under the stars.

Morning hide in the Jura

We wake up early and set off for a short hike that takes us closer to the rutting area, taking advantage of the cool morning air and sunrise.

Back at camp, we enjoy a hearty breakfast before heading back down through another rutting area, a secret spot of Rémi's in the Juramountains.

Next, we wait: sometimes a few minutes, sometimes a few hours, depending on the "lottery" of the hide. With a bit of luck, we might have the privilege of observing a stag rutting in the middle of the clearing. Whatever happens, it's a moment when we blend fully into nature.

We end the day with a friendly evening at camp, enjoying good local products under the stars.

Sunday hike in the Jura

Later wake-up, it's Sunday: we take the time to start the day gently. After a good breakfast, we pack up the campsite before leaving for a hike in another sector of the Jura. Our objective is to reach a viewpoint with stunning views of the relief of the Jura mountains. Alongside Captain Rémi, we explore this region and take an interest in the local fauna and flora.

We then enjoy a picnic based on local products while taking advantage of the view over the valley. With attentive ears, we can still hear the rutting call of the deer until we return to the station.

The day ends at Bellegarde-sur-Valserine station, where we arrive at 4:45 PM.
