Slate Quarries and Beaufortain Hut
10:40 AM – Albertville Station: group welcome, reunion with Captain Chloé, then short transfer to the starting point.
The day begins with a climb on a scenic trail in the heart of the slate quarries of Cevins and La Bâthie. A break is necessary at this unique site, before continuing among the slate towards a pass at 1,919 m altitude. The route then continues downhill through flowering alpine meadows to our accommodation.
In the late afternoon, settle into a rustic and authentic cabin for the night.
Captain Chloé offers observation of local wildlife, foraging for edible wild plants and campfire preparation. Time for a well-deserved aperitif with Beaufort tasting, before a shared meal and an evening under the stars.
Activity: 6km, 5 hours of hiking, 650 m elevation gain and 200 m elevation loss

High altitude lakes and alpine meadows
Heading to the Lavouet lakes (2,130 m) and Sans Fond (2,230 m). The mineral and peaceful scenery opens up views towards the Chartreuse, Pierra Menta and the Écrins. The path winds through wild bilberries, a treat for those with a sweet tooth. Picnic break facing the mountain ranges that stand out all around.
In the afternoon, descent near the Lavouet waterfall, then heading to the Bellachat alpine pasture. Possibility of meeting the alpine herder and their herd; those who wish can leave with some Beaufort cheese.
Return to Albertville station at 5 pm.
Activity: 5 miles, 5 hours of hiking, 1,475 ft to 1,970 ft elevation gain and 2,300 ft elevation loss
