The spirit of travel
You already practice rope climbing, indoors or outdoors, but have never dared to tackle cliffs by placing your own protective gear to ensure your safety? Before attacking the vertical faces of Chamonix or Yosemite with a set of nuts and friends on your harness (plus a good dose of courage), come learn thanks to Captain Sylvain all the subtleties of Adventure Terrain on the magnificent Penhir cliffs, at the very end of the Crozon peninsula (29). Climb free as the wind above the ocean: a unique experience!

Iodine bath facing the ocean
We have an appointment on Friday morning at 10h31 at Brest train station (departure 6h42 from Paris Montparnasse) to meet Captain Sylvain and the rest of the team.
A short van transfer of a few minutes takes us to our camping site (option 1) or the ecological lodge (option 2), both ideally located a few kilometres from Penhir, on the Crozon peninsula to drop off our belongings and have a coffee.
From there, a short 30 minute journey takes us to the end of the peninsula, to the impressive Pointe de Penhir. Breathing in the sea spray with our eyes plunged into the ocean we discover on foot the cliff and the different routes we will be able to climb during our stay.
We equip ourselves and, after a safety briefing, begin to get to grips with the unique sandstone of this ocean cliff for a few first routes.
The end of the day allows for an initial presentation of the specificities and equipment used for climbing in "adventure terrain", when no protection is permanently installed on the rock.
Opening your own route, pioneering an unknown cliff, ensuring your protection by making the best choices: we will put ourselves in the shoes of the pioneers to gain autonomy and progressively open ourselves to new possibilities (big alpine and pre-alpine routes, Gorges du Verdon, etc.).
Return to the campsite or lodge for a meal taken all together, followed by an evening in a friendly atmosphere or well-deserved sleep depending on how tired everyone is!

Better to know how to place that cam properly...
After a well-deserved night of rest, we're back at the foot of the cliffs.
We wake up our bodies with some movement and a few warm-up routes, then put yesterday's lessons into practice.
Time for an immersion into the Adventure Terrain! Each person according to their level and desires, with or without belay support, it's about placing your own protection in the cracks to catch a possible fall! The objective is to learn while having fun, not to scare yourself!
A meal break allows us to regain some strength facing the ocean.
The afternoon allows us to deepen the activity by increasing, if desired, the difficulty level of the routes climbed, by seeking itineraries that are more challenging to protect, in short by gaining experience.
The sun is about to plunge into the ocean? That's a sign it's time to head back for dinner.
Free evening, individual or collective. It's the time to make plans and create rope teams for future vertical adventures!

Alone by the Sea
Last day! We must make the most of it and here we are back in action.
We wake up our bodies with a few movements because today, it's big walls, on routes of 2 to 3 pitches!
On the third day, we change atmosphere. Today we climb higher and leave the waves far beneath our feet. Be careful not to drop a carabiner, it will end up at the bottom of the ocean!
An abseil allows us to reach the base of the routes, 60m below. We organize autonomous rope teams and under the Captain's supervision we tackle our first "big walls" of the trip.
A "picnic with a view" allows us to recover from our emotions before doing it again for one last afternoon of adventure.
The afternoon will allow us to complete our "bucket list" and to dream of future adventures made possible by our new skills: the 900m of the Nose at El Capitan in the heart of the mythical Yosemite park? The 600m of Lotus Flower deep in the Canadian wilderness? Or closer to home to limit our carbon footprint, the crazy Gorges du Verdon or the wild cliffs of the Vercors, for example with Captain Sylvain?
With our heads full of dreams and plans, we head to Brest station at 6pm for a return (for those from the Paris region) at 9:26pm at Paris Montparnasse and its eponymous building. A 210m high tower with beautiful cracks! Tempting now, isn't it?
