The spirit of travel

Come and taste the quintessence of trekking in the heart of the Chartreuse massif with Captain Cyril.

For three days, you will savor the best that Chartreuse has to offer, this massif just a stone's throw from Grenoble and Chambéry. Between nights in a tent, nights under the stars or nights in a cabin, there will be something for everyone. During the days, we explore the Hauts de Chartreuse Natural Reserve, a preserved area where it is not uncommon to encounter our hosts the chamois and ibex. In short, an elixir of the best that the mountains can offer us.

Entirely accessible by public transport via the Chambéry / Pontcharra SNCF station.

🌱 This trip has a reduced carbon footprint. By choosing it, you are supporting sustainable tourism, respectful of nature, territories and the local economy — a simple and committed approach, carried out through our agency's human and professional approach.

Day-by-day itinerary

Let's leave the city for the Hauts de Chartreuse
D1

Let's leave the city for the Hauts de Chartreuse

Meeting at the Pontcharra station at the foot of the Chartreuse massif. The trek begins as soon as you exit the train! This first day of hiking will allow us to leave the city and cross all the mountain levels to reach the alpine pastures of the Hauts de Chartreuse reserve. A total disconnect where we will leave behind us the world below to feel in complete harmony with the world above.

Elevation gain + 1300 m / Elevation loss - 100 m / Distance 11 km

Bivouac
At the summit of Mont Granier

At the summit of Mont Granier

Today, we will climb Mont Granier. At 1933m altitude, it dominates like a fortress the heights of Chartreuse as well as the entire Chambéry to Grenoble valley. In good weather, you can even enjoy a magnificent view of a good part of the Northern Alps and Mont Blanc. It is also the privileged territory of ibex. For the most motivated, we can start very early to reach the summit accompanied by a magnificent sunrise.

Then we will continue exploring these places by heading towards the South of Chartreuse for a new idyllic bivouac spot.

On this third day, we will enjoy the Chartreuse landscapes one last time. The particular geology associated with hundreds of thousands of years of tectonic movements and erosion have drawn mysterious shapes here.

Perhaps we will have the chance to encounter the chamois. It will then be time to descend gently to rejoin civilization and Pontcharra.

During these 3 days, we will ensure to leave no trace of our passage so that this environment endures and the real inhabitants of these places can live in perfect tranquility.

A nature break within reach of the city, this is what Chartreuse offers us.
